Painted trusses

Hi all, I am finishing up my 30 x 40 pole barn and have been leaning toward leaving the trusses exposed and painting them. Does anyone have pics of their painted trusses? Thanks in advance.

I have no PICs and I have seen it done only once.
Most guys just let them age, but this guy painted them white while they were still on the ground.
(A good idea. It makes it a whole lot easier to get to them.)
It seemed to brighten up the place.
He did have the silver colored insulation on the roof as well.

I don't have trusses....but I did paint the inside of the roof of my second story attic of my garage.....made a big difference in reflected light....

The way I see it....using a good exterior gloss paint...

Helps control the dirt better...dust will stick as easy to a painted surface vs bare wood.

Smells better....bare wood tends to get a musky smell over time...

Painted wood is more of a barrier to wood insects such as termites...


As soon as I get home from the airport I'll post a couple of pics.

Not sure if I'll go that high, but I'm going to paint all other wood. Mine is a 30x40 as well.

I put 2 rows of plywood for a loft down the center of the trusses.

I've got more painted now, I'll post them when I take some more pics.

Ddawg, that looks good and don't blame you for painting that. If I painting trusses, I'd do it before they were up. It would be too much pain in the **** moving a ladder around trying to reach everything.

If you do paint while they are up, use dryfall paint. Easier to cleanup. Go check out Chili's and some of the other food outlets. They have painted truss's.

thanks for the replies. The white looks nice and i think I am leaning that way. I will post pics when I am done.
