I picked a small Kennedy machinist box. It's been setting somewhere for a long time and it's really dusty dirty and mostly need cleaned up and painted, does anybody here have any suggestions for the type of paint to put on there to get the original finish? I've seen the Kennedy brown paint that msc sells but I wonder if you could paint a whole box with it and it turn out decent. I guess it would need to be primed too?
Thanks, Stafford

leave it alone, Kennedy boxes look good when they look broken in. Let the snap-on boxes look all polished and new.

Yeah, you've gotta good point. I'll just give it a good cleaning and let it go. It's not the worst I ever saw but it's definitely far from new.

Thanks guys for the help

Kennedy makes a touch-up paint, but it says that it's for small repairs only.

Not intended for large surfaces.

I just got a link for it. I can find it if you like.

I am looking for a source, or a technique to refurbish on old cart.

FWIW, painting a seven-drawer box is way more work than it is worth. BTDTNA.

I've got a half-dozen of these and the conditions range from mint to some missing paint in spots, to a rough-pink/purple repaint job. They're gonna stay that way.

On all the ones I bought over the years, I just spray them down with Greased Lightening and use a small brush on the brown krinkle finish. They usually end up looking great. After you clean them up, Kennedy recommends wiping them down regularly with WD-40.

I got out there and cleaned it up with some kinda spray cleaner and wiped it down when it dried it was dirty looking again. i started spraying the slides with wd-40 and got it on the drawer fronts and wiped it off and it looked pretty good. I just sprayed the whole box down with it and wiped it down a little and looks just fine now. not gonna worry any more about it. a pretty neat little box for 15.00. Thanks for comments guys
