Painting above Overhang dilema

Started to paint the garage finally and I'm completely stumped on how to paint above the overhang over the garage doors.

( Hope the pic works). The Driveway slopes away from the garage. The overhang comes out about three feet and I don't want to lean a ladder up against it because the drip edge is aluminum and will dent...
To lay the ladder on the roof would make it at an extreme angle and probably would not be too safe.
Thought about renting a lift but would still not be able to get close to the siding just above the overhang... :dunno:

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Anecdotes?

When I painted my garage I rented a all terrain manlift. I had a severe slope behind my garage and the man lift worked great. I since rented twice since for cleaning the metal roof and I will be doing it again later this year.

Use a standoff on the ladder to get up there, so it rests against the roofing, not the edge.

Then, if the roof is structural, use adjustable roof brackets and a walking board, so you can stand on the roof ad paint the gable end. If not structural, you could use some temporary posts for supports underneath.

Scaffolding might also be a good long term investment.

Using some 2x10 lumber I had used for forming my footing (sort of scrappy stuff with drilled holes, splits from prying it apart and the usual concrete stickies, I built a simple scaffolding for servicing my steep hip roof, same idea except I was starting 9 feet up. The key is a couple of "X" braces to keep it sway-free. I used GRK-RSS torx drive screws that are easily removable and reusable later on. I used the front end of my tractor to hold it down as well, a pickup truck or any vehicle could be used in the same capacity.

Along the same lines, you can also use a ladder on what would be an extremely horizontal angle, just anchor the end to a heavy vehicle, truck would be ideal because of its bumper. Pad with duct tape, cardboard, etc, to keep the scratches at bay.
