Painting Aluminum

Just recently bought some tube fenders for my Jeep and the inner fenders are aluminum...also just go an aluminum gas tank skid...not sure if I want the bright shiny look and was thinking of painting them black....

What is the best procedure and how will it stand up?

At the very least you will need to use a self etching primer. Or you can buy product's to etch the aluminum. The last time I did aluminum I got something at NAPA, just mixed it with water and spread it on with a rag. That was many years ago though. The self etching primer is probably the easiest. Then you just work it like any other paint job.
