Painting concrete block with epoxy?

When I paint my floor, do you think it would be possible to also paint the 2 courses of block that are exposed? Has anyone done this?

Granted, the surface would be rough, at least it would match the floor. The only problem I can see is moisture seeping in from the outside causing the paint to fail.

Any thoughts?

I would check with the epoxy manufacturer. I'm not sure it wouldn't run on a vertical surface. Bill

I do not have concrete block, but do have poured concrete running up the walls a couple of feet. I painted mine without a problem, but block might let more moisture in.
I didn't have a problem with getting the epoxy to stick on the walls either, just rolled and brushed in on. I did get a few runs, but since the wall is formed to look like brick, you can't tell unless you are looking for runs.

Need to revive this thread since I'm getting ready to epoxy my floor....and hopefully the block too. Anyone else epoxy their block??

Any alternatives?

Moisture problem was mentioned... Can I use something to seal the block first and then epoxy it?

Admin, please move this to flooring forum....

I also do not have blocks but I did use epoxy part way up the concrete walls. It was thick enough so that it didn't run and has been there for almost 3 years without a problem.

I'm thinking that I might be okay, especially since there is a good surface profile on the block.

You should seal the block first with a primer like "KILZ" water based. Apply two coats. Block can absorb so much product that you can loose the coverage of your epoxy on the floor.

Just picked up my epoxy tonight, plus the primer: Sherwin Williams PrepRite Block Filler, specifically made for masonry. Hopefully in a week or so I should have the results.
