Hi,

I would like to paint my Craftsman dirll press which is cast iron. Does anyone have any recommendations on type of paint, brand or any advice on the process? Thanks.

Ace industrial paint works very well. It's cheap and locally available. Clean the casting with Simple Green and a ScotchBrite pad to remove any and all grease and oil. Scrub it with another piece of ScotchBrite with hot water and Dawn to remove the Simple Green, then wipe it down with a wax and grease remover. Don't touch it with your oily hands during this last step. Mask it if needed and paint. Brush will work if you thin the paint about 10%.

I second FrankLee. I've got a number of Craftsman rebuilds going at the moment, and I've settled on Rustoleum's Metallic Cobalt Blue for anything that wasn't originally Power Bronze. I recommend primer, at least 3-4 coats of paint, wet sand and polish, and no clear coat.

Post pictures and let us know how it turns out!
