Anyone have any advice on painting an electric baseboard heater? Mine are that old tan/brown color, would like to make white or blue. The metal surface gets to about 160 F. Looked at the MSDS for Rustoleum Oil Based Enamel, but all it has was stuff about flashpoints, etc. The BBQ Heat Paint goes to like 1000 degrees F, don't need that.

Googled the topic, but got everything from "Don't Do It Or You Will Die" to "I Use Interior Latex".

Thanks

painted a whole house full of them 15 years ago with krylon. No problems, no smells, look better than turd brown..... only paint the housing... don't paint the actual heat element... LOL

nothing special required.
I've sprayed tons of them with regular oil based wall paint(when you could get it)
sand with fine grit , clean to remove grease and blow out the fins so dust isn't an issue
or easy way out just brush them

ceramic enamel paint... rattle can or buy it from paint stores...

Once the paints are dried, it's not volatile or the flash point would be insignificant ... so hope you wait for the paint to dry before installing it / use it in heat...

Not sure what msds you are watching.

I painted all mine with the wall paint. Just wiped them down with a wet rag. I took them apart first and painted them on saw horses. Don't paint the heating part you don't see normally. No worries as they don't get over 200*

I use Krylon or Tractor Supply implement paint.

Paint stripper to remove the old wall paint, DA sander on the rusted areas, spray primer, then color coat.

Latex paint works fine.

Consider replacing them altogether, though. They are not expensive and it only takes a few minutes to replace once.
