Painting galvanized garage door track???

Can this be done? From what little research I have done, it looks like it can be done but with a lot of prep work. Any of you guys tried this. Maybe I just need my head examined but I think A colored track would look good.

Several GJ guys have painted garage door track.

Plow through thread of Red Leader for 1950's Craftsman Garage as I remember him painting his black.

Rustoleum seems to stick pretty nicely with only a minor prep (read degreasing).

x2. I used Zinsser 1-2-3 as it specifically lists galvanized metal as OK.

The main thing I read is to not use an oil-based paint. The zinc eventually reacts with the alkalyds, causing saponification (i.e. the paint becomes "soap like" and peels)
