Painting Garage Door - Help Needed

We recently spruced up the house with new trim paint, flagpole, lights, and numbers. Personally, I think it looks fine the way it is. The wife, however, thinks the garage door "needs something" because the white door stands out too much.

I'm not replacing a metal door that is perfectly fine, so I did a little photoshop playing with the raised panels. I don't have any extensive design experience and don't like what I did so far.

Guys, I need some ideas.

Gotta leave it JUST AS IT IS . . . . do NOT want to draw attention to that big space.

I'd recommend Pro-Wifey solution of hanging flower boxes under those big windows in front. That would add some curb appeal.

Also, can't really see the front door, but that's an area to add some "pop" like a bright color.

Looks great already . . . do not screw up that garage door!! Worst case scenario, just paint it same color as house so it will somewhat hide big space.

The house faces west so I added white solar screen to reduce the heat gain. There's a small foyer/porch there.

I would ask her exactly what she has in mind, otherwise you're just wasting your time..Just sayn..:D

Depending on the age and make of your door, You could get a top section with glass! not cheap tho!

I did that. She just shook her head..."I don't know..just something". She didn't like my photoshop ideas either.

CNG is right.

I just happened to catch the tv show curb appeal one day.The last thing you want to do is draw attention to the g-door.

Is it me or does your front door look like its painted on to a flat slab of stucco?

That's a screen door with white solar screen.

The last pic looks the best! I vote for the fake painted windows. Play with doing the third row instead of the top to see what that looks like.

All white. Anything else and it will become the focal point of your house (which might not be all bad, in many of our opinions! :S) A row of REAL windows might be something I'd consider-----not bad-looking and practical, too.

How about painting the whole garage door a solid color. Not the dark green, I think that would be too much. In the first pic it looks like your front door is a light gray color, that would be a nice subtle contrast to the white and break up that big white wall.

What about this? Just paint the interior jamb. Its subtle (and a lot less work)

Years ago my then neighbor decorated his plain, undistiguished garage door in a way that I've always thought was unique. He came up with a 35MM slide of the side view of a 1920's box-like sedan. He projected it on the garage door and then painted the outline of the vehicle on the door. He used black paint on a white door. It came out nice and was the subject of positive conversation.

Leave the GD alone. Go back and re-screen the front door with the dark screen like your windows to the side. That will bring the focal point back to the front door and the GD will disappear.

The side windows are screened with white solar screen as well. I think that is throwing everyone off.

Gotta loose that screen door....put a normal screen door on with a contrasting color an leave the garage door plain or pay the cash and put in a row of windows like last pic....
