Painting garage interior

I am just finishing dry walling the garage. Getting ready for paint. It's a 24 x 24 attached garage. The ceiling and the inside wall was dry walled when the house was built in the late 70's. They taped it and mudded it just enough to bed the tape, so i know it's going to take a lot of paint. Not looking for anything fancy, just want to paint it white to help with lighting. I only want to do this once! What type of paint will last? Thinking of using exterior paint? Probably would need some type of primer to use exterior paint to paint over new drywall? Just looking for ideas. Thanks all

I'm having good luck so far with good quality interior paint, and the newer primer/paint combos. I prefer Kelly-Moore but also have had good luck with the top line Glidden from HD. Stuffs not cheap, so yea - you want to do it in one coat and have it last.

I used water based primer and semi-gloss paint. Two coats each. See my story (20X20) in my sigline, but it worked great! Raw sheet rock and mud.
