We have a cabinet from Germany that is MDF covered with Laminate. My wife wants to change the colors. Can the laminate be painted? What do I need to do to make the paint adhere? Is there a particular paint that I need to use? All advice is appreciated.

Laminate can be painted but it will not be durable. Scuff the surface with a red Scotch Brite pad and them coat it with XIM primer. When the primer dries you can top coat it with color.
We refinished decor panels in a retail store using this method with good results but these areas were not exposed to constant hand traffic.

Rustoleum makes a paint specifically for laminate, ie, countertops. Painted my kitchen countertops with it. Took them from an UGLY orange to a wheat color. It's lasted great for the last 5 years so far.

Zinsser Bullseye 123 can be used over laminates, ceramic tile and even glass. Check out their web site and see if it will work for your application.

I agree with what others have said, but if it was my project, I'd buy an electric orbital sander and scratch the surface with 180 grit paper before any primer or paint to give the surface "tooth" as the painters call it.

kabinenroller is correct XIM 400 white, you can prime glass with it. Scuff with 120 and clean surface with xylene. You can also have it tinted close to your finish color so it will cover with less coats. I am a professional painting contractor and that's what I would use.
