I built some medium density fiberboard (mdf) cabinet doors in my garage and primed them with a shellac based (BIN) primer. I then sanded them with 220 grit and used a small foam (smooth surface) roller to put on a coat of water based paint. The finished surface appears as if it has roller marks in several spots. So I lightly sanded and rolled on a second coat, taking care to ensure I rolled large sections on every stroke - again I got roller marks :headscrat.

Any ideas? Perhaps I need to try a different type roller or maybe I am exerting too much pressure? Also, do I need to lay on a thicker coat?

Thanks,
Mordi

After you roll the paint on use a brush to go over it, I believe it's called tipping, with the right paint and tipping you can get a finish that you would swear was sprayed on. you must use a quality brush though, a cheap one won't do what's needed.
