Currently in the paint stage of my garage re-do.

The inside of the garage door appears to be some sort of rigid insulation. Can this stuff be painted? Any special types of paint to use?

Currently its white. but thought it would be cool to paint it to match the scheme on the other three walls

It may be polyurethane insulation. Don't know for sure how well it paints, but if you can find a place that is somewhat hidden do a test with some water based primer(zinser 123) and a water based top coat.

Hopefully someone will come along shortly that has painted theirs and can comment from experience.

My garage door have foil backed insulation on them. It's rigid but not sure what type it is. I turned the foil out on the pieces that cover the windows and the foil in on the bottom panels. I didn't want the letter and print to so on the top pieces so I painted them with some cheap oil based paint I bought at Odd Lots,it's the same stuff I used on the OSB walls.
You can see the doors in the background.

Mine wasnt insulated so I did it myself. I used regular foam insulation like they use for one use coolers. I painted it with exterior latex paint before I cut it. It stuck very good. Actually made the foam stronger since the latex crated a layer like paper to drywall.

Just use the same paint that you are using on the walls. I painted mine a few years ago and have had no problems at all.
