So I took the floor color, and then had them cut it in half as far as tint goes so the wanes coating is now half as dark as the floor. Then I am painting the top half a gloss white to brighten the garage up. I think its turning out nicely.

Here is a pic of the garage before I bought the house. The **** in this picture is not mine.

Here is a pic of the garage right after I finished the floor.

It has never occurred to me, but I am not sure if its worth the effort right now. I have yet to even plumb the compressor or put drops. I think that is on the agenda, but currently I am focused on just getting the painting done.

How would I mount the cabinet to the concrete block? Not sure how that would work out. I should have some bead board left over. I will think about it... for a future project I suppose.

It would give me a little storage over the air compressor. Thats something to think about... I am going to go measure it now...

Nice choice and execution. That should bounce a lot of light for you, too. People often under estimate the light value of that kind of gray.

Thats the problem with getting on GJ at least for me, I see all these bitchin garages/shops and see all the different idea's that people have come up with and it gets me thinking, then my to do list grows and my wallet shrinks usually -

If you do enclose them both, just be sure to allow sufficient airflow for the compressor and around the hot water heater.

It's also nice to find out that when you garage looks ok before and then you put a paint job on it looks awesome. I wanna find a good color scheme first. However awesome job and I like the idea of hiding the water heater.

Great job. I'm a big fan of color schemes like this -- understated rather than over-the-top.

Some guys love bright reds and bright yellows -- and more power to them if that's what they want. But I personally think less is more.

Jack, I was shooting for colors that would contrast, but still add lots of light. The gloss white paint really does brighten the garage up.

Fred, the Z3 is a classic. Who doesn't love them?

56nash, The Dodge is a 73 Dart with a 340 in it. Although rumors of a built 360 seem to be floating around...

The floor is industrial Epoxy done by a guy here locally called Epoxy Inc. It messed up and cratered or something the first time around. Its now around 10 coats of epoxy, and just about flawless, and I would guess at least a quarter of an inch thick. Dropped a transmission on it. It broke a mounting point off the ******. It dented the floor, but the dent has "healed" itself and I can't even find it anymore. And it cost me less to have him do it than to buy the stuff for a diy from ucoatit. The only downside is he only offers grey or tan for colors. And thats just leftovers from much larger industrial jobs.

Here is a quick update on the painting progress. Its going very slow because I seem to be paying too much attention to detail. Its taking several applications of spray texture to get the finish just right because I am using a gloss white paint to help with the light in the garage.

The white-board wall is coming along slowly. Made some mounting points for the beer-pong table so I can keep it off the floor. Not sure about the trim color choices to be honest at the moment. I may try something different because trim and the wall are the same color on the top. Maybe bright blue to match the beer-pong table? I still have half a gallon is why I am considering it. What do you think?

The single bay side of the garage is just about done. I am contemplating building a cabinet around the water heater and the compressor. I still have to plumb the air lines to the drops and I am putting a dump valve in that dumps the compressor to the outside. I plan on using 1/4 inch copper with a small hole. That way it should blow any moisture out of the tank and I don't have to listen to it when it goes.

You can see the main wall is coming along. Pipe mounts on the wall are for hanging a spare set of wheels. No point in buying the ones from Griots, right? You can see where I have added texture to a few spots that I missed. Gotta load up on the texture to get it just right so it blends in.

garage looks good, the only thing you're missing is some work bench space.

BTW, the prvious owners look like a his/hers garage, one side organized and the other a mess.

Ok, second coat is dry. Time to re-hang the doors.

I also find myself re-organizing all the storage. Its amazing how much stuff these cabinets swallow. Everything you see on the floor in this picture will go into the white cabinet.

And look at all the stuff that is already in there!

I am still working here. I am trying to determine the best way to do it. I am thinking I will build a new top for a folding table so I can move it around if necessary. Maybe white laminate over MDF?

Anyone have ideas?

Actually she was an evil woman who divorced her husband and was living alone. She left her husband, then spent his money on a **** job, all of which he had to pay for. I paid off 4 mortgages/leans on the property when I bought it. She didn't get a dime from the sale.

Got it pretty much loaded up now.

The floor is at least clear.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the bike. I saw someone cut a hole in the ceiling and hoisted a kayak up into the hole, I might try that.

I am looking for ideas, because I just don't want to look at it.

We really need pics of the **** job to tell if she was actually evil. :spit: Can you help us out ?

I think I would put the bench to the left of the cabinet. A top on a folding table would work but it would be somewhat light duty.

I am afraid that my workbench is rather pedestrian. I haven't figured out what to do for a work bench. I need somewhere to bolt a vice to, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

I still have to put in the cove-base on the right side. I haven't even started painting the area over the garage door yet. And I need to re-wire the door opener sensors on the large door, re-hang the opener on the big door, and 4StarCstms had the nerve to get me thinking about a cabinet for the compressor. He is on my **** list.

Too much to do, too little time.

Okay first off I am not a big fan of benches and I have 30 feet of them, LOL, they gather junk to easily and look like **** all the time. One thing I can say is cover the electrical box with something, right now it detracts from the overall nice picture. I actually added a bench to the top of a lower cabinet of a tool chest. Nice surface to work off of, and keep tools while I work on a project. But is easily cleared off. I have a huge bench cause I do a ton of fab work, and people just dump stuff on it all the time. Detracts from a clean environment, and means I have to stop clear the bench, then go an work.

I will be hanging the banner back up when it comes back from the dry cleaners. You can see it in this picture in front of the yellow car.

I picked up some grey bins to keep on top of the cabinets. It blends in better than the blue and green I already have. I guess I can put Christmas decorations in the green one and I will come up with a use for the other one.

I have so many computer cables. I need to throw away some of these random electronics. It looks like I am hoarding. I have 6 bins of just cables and small computer electronics, KVMs, mice, USB, you name it. Seems a waste to throw it away. Does that mean I have a problem?

You can never have too many Z3s.

Anyways, got everything organized and put away into the new bins. I got grey thinking they would blend in better. I wonder if rubber-maid makes white bins. I will look into that. I am going to hang a couple more lights in the garage, that will bring me up to 20 4 foot T8 lights in the garage. I am getting old, the sight is going out I think.
