Pallet rack in corner, lost space. What would you do?

So this has always bugged me.

I have pallet racking in my garage to store stuff up high. The racks meet in the corner, so it makes the corner not as useable as if the one upright wasn’t there.

Thought about cutting the upright and somehow welding it to the other rack. Maybe just cut the front beam on the upright and leave the back and weld to the other?

Any ideas? The rack that has this upright probably has 200lbs of stuff on it.

I am not able to move the rack closer, it is about 12” apart.

Put hardly accessed stuff in the corner

Another option is move the racks apart a bit and house a compressor in the corner

putting the compressor there was my thought also

Exactly what I what going to say. I have mine in the corner under my racking. I have a horizontal one though. How about a large lazy susan?? Just a thought.
Here's me trying to use some wasted space.

Some of the commercial ones we have at work have a little bracket that joins the shelves while removing the front post. The ones at my house it just slid them together and put seldom used things in the back.

I did this exact thing in my shop. Air compressor in the corner of 2 pallet racks and it worked awesome because I used both racks for numerous pallets

Sorry my compressor is already in a closet of its own.

I should have posted another pic, my workbench actually extends all the way to the wall, so really would like to use the space.

What about putting a small parts drawer organizer in the space on the bench. The previous owner built a very deep bench into the space under the storage loft. He had a bolt bin there but I use it for parts organizers.

This is the best picture I have of the bench.

A dead corner like that is great for a ladders (as mentioned), spare lengths of pipe, dimensional lumber scraps, shop broom & squeegee, a hose rack or extension cord rack, tuck in your floor jack, etc. Unless you have a LOT of need for shelving little-used materials, the systems that join racks in corners also create a dead space that only hold racked items. But they look cooler.
