Does anyone know of any reputable distributors of pallet racks in Maryland? Looking for used to cover a wall of about 30 feet. I think 2 feet in depth and about 10 feet high.

I did read your use of the word "reputable". Have you considered used? I find these wankers on Craigslist all the time. Or, Google is your friend.

There are a bunch of vendors on Facebook Marketplace. There's one in Sykesville and one in Baltimore. Depending on how quickly you want them, I've bought mine from Craigslist. There are a lot of businesses in the DC/Baltimore area who are liquidating now.

I just put up 30 feet of 24”-deep pallet racking from Home Depot this weekend. Each box has a pair of 7’ tall ends, ten beams, and wire shelves for about $250.

I guess I have to sharpen my searching skills cause I didn’t find any local. I am interested in used as opposed to new.

Turnip- how many boxes did you buy?

Keep looking, every day, multiple times a day. I bought mine off CL.

Traditional pallet racking is usually 48", 42" or 36" depths. 24" might be out there but is going to be a lot less common. 10' height in 24" depth is also a little unusual, at that depth 7' or 8' are going to be more common.

You may also want to search for bulk storage racks. They are a little lighter duty than pallet racks but are more commonly available in that depth. Tennesco and Edsal are common manufacturers with the Tennesco stuff being a little more heavy duty. The edsal shelving style is what you see at most home improvement stores or warehouse stores as the muscle rack or other names.

Check to see if you have any local auction houses that handle that kind of stuff. I bought all of mine brand new from auctions as scratch and dent returns from Grainger. I had to piece some of the beams and uprights together because they were sold separately but it was a good value for me.

There should be a couple vendors on craigslist around the Baltimore area.
I have found the new racking is't much more expensive than used and the selection is much better. Especially if you want an unusual or specific size.

For our warehouse I always bought used racking from, East Coast Storage Equipment Co.
They are in NJ, but are up and down I-95 alot, would piggyback my orders onto some big deliveries they would have.

Their not to hard to cut and weld to a narrower size, and a lot of the racking is 13' for commercial use, we used them in the containers cut down to 24" and 6'6"' tall from Warehouse One in KC Mo. Upright's $20 and cross beams $6.00

with all the warehouse/office shutdowns, there is a ton of used pallet racking/shelving available.
check your local used storage material listings.

I've reached out to a few so far with no response. Will keep digging.

Don't let it slow you down, like I said, keep an eye out or put the word out to friends and family.

I had been keeping an eye out for the last few months but the last 2 weeks before I found what I bought , I was looking several times a day. Where I bought mine, they had just updated the CL ad.

A quick search, prices look good here.

Do the uprights typically get bolted to the floor? Also, how tall is too tall for a 12 foot wall?

You don't have to bolt them down but I would. I will be bolting mine down.

Buy 12' uprights and just cut off what you need to cut off, maybe 6".

Just remember, there are basically 2 different types, "teardrop" and "keystone"

Make sure your beams fit the uprights.

In my area code calls for racking over 8' tall to be anchored down. Installs we have done in less earthquake prone areas allow for taller without anchoring.

Some depends too on how heavy you plan to load them.

I like to make fence posts from pallet rack load beams.
I trim the hardware from the ends, weld on tabs and bolt on pressure treated 2X4 rails. I weld plates on to the exposed ends to keep the rain out. 7018 rod works well on those load beams.
