Anyone used pallet wood on their walls?

I want something a little different in my garage, but also useful.

It's likely either pallet wood or boring OSB.. Lol

Anyone?

I am planning to put pallet wood on 3 of my upper shop walls. I collected and dismantled a bunch of pallets throughout the summer. I am almost ready to prep them and get them up.

All the pallets I have seen weren't made from very good quality wood. They were pretty crappy actually, they worked OK as pallets but I really don't think they would make a very nice looking wall covering. If you could get some pallets that were made from decent wood, then I would say it would be a good idea.

Where I live, I'd be wouldn't consider using reclaimed pallet wood because there is an almost 100% chance it would harbor termites. If you're sure it's pest free then I'd recommend it!

Great advice. See if you can find a source of pallets that have been shipped from overseas. With so many overseas suppliers nowadays that shouldn't be too difficult. Pallets like that should be heat-treated for pests and are normally used for just one trip over the ocean. The company I work for gets them in by the hundreds each day, and a lot of them look like they were just built. Most are of some sort of softwood and look just like our local pine.

What are you doing for the lower portion of the wall?

The lower portion is the actual shop area with block walls.

This photo was taken sitting on the opposite "shelf/floor" that is very similar to what's pictured (just a foot deeper).
