Had never considered buying one but for certain low torque jobs or in tight spaces they might be handy. Anyone that uses them, can you recommend a brand and model number to look for? The Williams Super Palmster (USA) is tempting.

Used only once in 10 years? LOL @ still looks brand new. Perhaps I may have to reconsider a purchase but seems like a handy tool.

I have a 1/4" drive sk one. I don't use it much, but it's nice to have when in really tight spaces. It's definitely low on the priority list if you have other things to buy.

I like the Titan gearless micro ratchets for tight spots. Inexpensive and mine have lasted a very long time (I think going on 10 years) with fairly regular use.

I like their finger ratchets too. For me it's all about the price; I very rarely need a finger ratchet and hence can't justify spending real money on them (until I manage to break one).

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. The JH Williams Super Palmster and the SK 45172 are priced around $30 (made in USA) and the low cost offerings by Northern Tool, Gearwrench, and HF are up for consideration. I can see where working under a dashboard or in other limited space applications one might be handy but it may be wiser to justify a purchase based on a need for a tool rather than buying a tool for a potential need.

If you ever do any motorcycle front end work, they're priceless for putting fork tube caps on, since you need to press the spring down while turning the nut. Use a SO instinct handle one a few times a month.

I have the HF set. I have the same complaint about them as a reviewer did about the Sears one; the ratcheting mechanism is too stiff. It won't ratchet until the fastener is almost tight, which reduces its usefullness is tight locations.
