Don't like that they use the same crimp die for the red and the blue.
Works just fine, and I've made countless terminal crimps with a pair of 1550's (1550/1551; difference = just changes where the color nests are situated from the joint, as the closest to the jont = easiest to crimp, so you pick your tool based on terminal size used the most).
Wow. I realize that Panduit makes good stuff, but for that price, with only one set of dies, you should be able throw it down next to where you want the crimp. After it strips, crimps, and heat shrinks the connection it should blow you.
Panduit gets them made for them by
Wezag.de (it's a
CK 100 frame; uses the same die nests as the
CS30). The die used is proprietary to Panduit however (Wezag's normal insulated terminal die uses separate nests for R, B, and Y).
You can also get a similar version using the
CK90 frame, which is very similar, from Wiha in the US (
Wiha 43618). It's also cheaper.
If you notice however, you won't be able to change the dies on these, as the entire upper and lower jaws are cast, which includes the die profile, which is then finish machined or ground.
Dies for the CS30/CK100 can be had (would fit the Panduit frame), but would have to be sourced from the EU somewhere, likely out of Germany (never found a source in the US).
