Hello everyone. I’m running a 10-3 with ground for a 30 amp breaker for a generator. I’m planning on using the bottom left opening which was put there when I had the house built. It runs into my 6 foot crawl space. My question is that after I run the wire through, there is still a ton of room in the hole. Any ideas how I can do this so I’m following code. The hole about 2 inches. Thanks guys for the help.

Pull the cord grip off, use two conduit reducing washers and a smaller cord grip to accommodate the cable you want.

I'm assuming that's not a cord grip but a conduit chase that runs to the crawl space. I would run my wire inside the conduit, staple right after it leaves the conduit and tuck the insulation back around the wire inside the panel.

I second that

Sorry guys, I should have been more clearer for you. It is a conduit chase that runs down to the crawl space. And there is a joist right next to it so it will be really easy to staple. Thanks again guys!

OK so OP now has a 10/3 cable through that chase, -- how many of what size cables can he additionally run down to that crawl space through that 2" "chase" or is it a "sleeve"? Lets just say he wants to power a sump pump and run a light circuit down there, maybe power a dehumidifier also.

And it has to pass inspection.

There is no chart that I am aware of how many NM-Bs can go in a certain size conduit. You just have to use your best judgment to keep it at around a 40% fill and calculate derating factors if the conduit is more than 24" long

Bottom left? Interlock kits generally require the space closest to the main.

You are using an interlock, right?

Yes, for my panel manufacture the interlock will be installed in the upper right corner. I’ll be moving a 40 amp breaker down to maker room for the 30 amp breaker I’ll be back feeding to my generator. The wire I’m feeding up through that conduit is for the 30 amp breaker.

You are correct, I hope he understands about interlocks

Thanks everyone for the help. I am familiar with the interlocks. I just installed one on the panel in my shop so I can run my well during an outage. The power goes out up where I live quite often and got tired of not having lights and water.
