My system is a Nordyne-manufactured E3 Series (Air Conditioner/Heat Pump Air Handler). When I bought my secondhand mobile home eight years ago, there were thin, woven metal filters over both sides of my A-coil. These are the only filters on my system, and they just kind of lean against the coil. The metak filters didn't seem to be doing a great job of keeping the fins clean (attach Original Coil 1 & 2), so I replaced them with the cheapest paper filters at Home Depot.
Today, though, I found those metal filters being sourced for Nordyne (but not my particular model, I don't think) at Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PXN94J1/?tag=atomicindus08-20).
Other than perhaps being washable (a plus), you can see right through those metal guys and my coil was pretty nasty, so they don't look like they're doing a great job of filtering.
Did I do right replacing them with paper filters? Are there advantages to the metal ones that I'm not seeing?
