Pure speculation and know way to know dates wrenches were made, but when Snap on switched from Par-X to Blue Point branding on the wrenches the finish changed to a more smooth satin finish. Could explain the more polish look in the pic, plus camera, lighting etc. Some Blue point wrenches I have seen in pics have date codes stamped on them, that with some time and research could determine age of the Cat wrenches but I think it would require having the tools in hand to measure and compare. In pics of Blue Point wrenches on Ebay you can see a font change and the lengths seem to vary, so I think there were differences and I don't know how long Cat stayed with Snap on.Those
I will , working away at the moment, those have got a polished Finnish to them, I think I may have a 5/16 too, will have a look.
I have never in my tool hunting seen a Caterpillar, or old Blue Point wrench, only Par-X. At one time I had full Par-X sets in SAE and metric and I bought the longer style Blue Point wrench sets in SAE and metric new in the early 90's.
