I bought this Park Model 86667 for 5 bucks at a yard sale a few years back and this last weekend decide it was time to refinish it.
I used a 1/2 inch wood chisel to shear off the rivets in the hard to reach areas and a 3/16" drill for the removal of the handle rivets.

Using a wire wheel and drill, cleaned it up with an orbital palm sander using 120 grit paper.

You can still see some rust on the box and drawer fronts. The drawers were hard to use the wire wheel on, so I used a 1/2 inch chisel to scrape off the paint then sanded.

The latch on the left was the original but over the years the lock eye had been cut off or broken off. I have been collecting hardware for years and had one that was similar.

Swapped out the longer latch and test fit is GTG.

Above it the new top drawer lock tab. The original had been broken at some point in its life by someone trying to pull open the drawer with the top down, which locks all the drawers closed.

Hardware all painted.

All back together. I used small nuts, bolts, washers to put the handle and lock back on.
No locktite just clipped the bolts off.
The paint was Rustoleum black hammered paint.
Lined with red felt, although I did consider using a black jack table for felt.

I have that same box full of my air brush and touch up paint stuff. Nice job! Is that a hammer tone finish? I can't quite tell.
