Long story, did a search for vises locally (Virginia) with no luck. Came close on a couple, but no dice. I think there was just never enough manufacturing in this area to warrant much volume of the type of vise I was looking for. Searched around hometown in PA since I have family/friends up that way that could pick up a vise if I found one, ran across this on CL.

Wasn't really looking for a humpback style with the big pipe jaws, but I like Parkers due to the affiliation with their shotguns and the look is somewhat unique. Had a buddy in the area go get it, never could get an actual model number from the seller, but pretty sure it's a 434 1/2 based on description and what my buddy can tell me. Paid $100 which is about right for market, but the fact that it's already cleaned up took a little of the sting off not getting a "killer" deal. Seller reported, and buddy confirmed, that it apparently was never really used and jaws still look new, so we shall see...I'll get my hands on it in about a month.

That's a good deal for that vise in that condition. All you need is the pipe jaws, even without them you did good.

I'll be combing Ebay for jaws, but have access to machinist that may be able to do them.

Excellent, keep bringing them back to Virginia.

I was looking at that one too, but couldn't talk myself into driving that far.

Yeah, that would have been a bit of a drive. I'm heading back north in a month for a wedding, so I'll get it then.

Very nice Humback! They still look like humback whales to me...but that's fine. They will outlive me and laugh. Good purchase!

Thanks. Could have used it tonight, my little Wilton 645 swivel couldn't handle a job, would have been nice to have this thing in the garage.
