I have this Parker 805 on an old bench I found in my warehouse. It's HUGE! Can't find much online about it. Any information would be helpful! What's the thing worth? Thanks.

SMJ: that Parker looks well preserved and nice find. with that metal plate and the bigger hole in it i wonder what that bigger vise was that was originally mounted on that table?

are you asking for value because you want to sell it or just have an idea? i'm pretty sure the 805 means the jaws are 5 inches wide, but i'm not the Parker expert even though i own a couple. can you measure the width of the jaw to see if it is 5 inches wide.

without un mounting the vise if you can pull out the dynamic jaw all the way and weigh it you'll have some idea how much the total vise weighs which might be about 75 pounds total. if the dynamic weighs 50 pounds and not the 30 i think it does then you might have a 100 pounder which is worth a bit more.

i didn't see any cracks, welds or broken parts so looks like you have a keeper or a good vise to sell if you don't need it.

Thank you, Drivesitfar. I have a few guys interested in purchasing it and personally have no use for it so yes, to sell. The jaws are in fact 5" and it goes 110lbs.

What price are you thinking of selling it for or being offered? mounting plate included or are you keeping it with the table?

if i was closer that would be a nice vise for me to buy and restore. then try and find a bench to use it on.

good luck

I am open to suggestion on the mounting plate. As for the asking price, that's where I am looking for information. I have no idea what the thing is worth.

i'm in a different market than you are out here on the west coast so check your local craigslist to see what is available. since it is 100 pounder even though it's not restored it should be worth $100 and maybe $150 range if you include the mounting plate. not that the mounting plate is worth $50, but it's worth a few bucks to the right guy. i'd like it if i had a wood bench and the holes were already drilled in it for the vise i'm buying.

ask a little less if you want it gone quickly and maybe include a deal with the bench if you need the space. better pictures from both sides would help and full size of the bench if that is included.

it's too expensive and not big enough for me to buy it unless you want to take a road trip to our 80 degree weather without any humidity this week. i have a Benjamin and a friend if you want to take a road trip in exchange for your old vise.

good luck

I just sold a similar Parker vise with an identical mounting/bolt pattern, photo below. Mine was restored and painted and in good shape, yours looks in good condition as well. I started mine on Craigslist at $250 and had no interest, I lowered it to $225 and it sold quickly. The one I sold had 5.5" jaws and weighed 125 pounds. This was in the Seattle area and just to help you in determining price.

I need to start gathering vises from ya'll's parts and selling them down here in Texas. That same vise not restored would go for about $400 here. The funny thing is people would not even bat an eye. Can't even find old vises down here without an premium.

I correspond with a couple others on this forum who buy/restore/flip bench vises and we all agree that we ship a high percentage of them to Texas so the second-hand-iron scene in the Lone Star State must be fairly bleak. As is a Texan stereotype; they do seem to like them big down there.

I got one from the bottom of the ocean. It was a C1. I have not been able to start the restore yet. But big old vises are a rarity. Driveitfar we may have to talk about shipping and pricing. LOL.

Sorry to the OP for the thread Hijacking. Back to what you were asking?

So true, so true... When you see something on CL for even a semi-decent price, don't hesitate, just call and GO...

I posted a pic of someone on CL with like a 4-4.5" Athlon wanting $400 here... Someone else is CA is finding them for $40... *sigh*
