I just picked up a Parker vice that appears to be a No. G. Does anyone have any info on this vise. It's a 145 lbs monster. Thanks in advance.

It has 6" jaws and opens to 9-1/2". This is all I know and would love to see a few pictures. It is on the spreadsheet listed in my signature. Did you weight it to come up with 145 lbs? The info on the spreadsheet is from a catalog page.

Yes, I weighed it and weighed it again. Actually I got 147 on two different scales soooooo Theres that. I did see your post which caused me to weigh it in the first place. Man that thing is just heavy. Pretty excited to get it cleaned up and see how well it works. Thanks for responding. There isn't a lot of info out there for this one.

Your Parker no. G vise was part of Parkers "Vulcan line" of vises. They were offered from the late 1890's to around 1917 or so. Vulcan was the type of steel used, not only in the vises, but also their shotguns.

If you do a search on "Parker Vulcan vises", you should come up with some worthy results.

Congrats! I have a No F, which is the 5-1/2" smaller brother. That's a great vise!

Thanks for the info. I wanted to be sure I was reading the casting correctly. Now I see the advertisement for it it all makes sense.
