Am wondering if anyone may know the value of this or the max anyone would bid. The auction states large Parker vise, and here are all the photos. Any info would help too!

Looks to be in wonderful shape...especially the jaws. Not sure on the value but I'd at least go 100-150 on it...it's hard to gauge the size in the pics.

Emann,

I don't own a Parker yet but it looks in great condition. I did spend $100.00 for my Cman 5195 Machinist vise. Maybe I over paid but I really wanted it!

What would a decent buy price be?

Look at the range of prices for Parker vises on EBay.....That should give you a feel for where the market is....Obviously if you are going to flip it you need to buy it as low as possible to preserve a profit when sold......If you are a collector and are going to park it on a shelf for twenty years then price becomes less important....

That is an early Union Parker (wrap over pined jaws with an external main screw retainer clamp). I think their earlier pre-Union vises have have higher collector value, but the Union ones are simple and still built like a tank. Worth? To me about $100.

Be careful when using FleaBay for pricing. All of the vises on there are busted up and over priced.

Use the advanced search feature and look for vises that have actually sold. This will give you an idea of what people have paid instead of what people are asking.

Just to give you an idea of the insanity on FleaBay, some guy is asking $1,000 for a welded up Prentiss No. 54.

As for this Parker vise, I would pay anywhere between $75-$100.

I'm thinking that may be a 5", and that would improve the value quite a bit over a 4" Make sure you know what you are bidding on.

is that a dollar bill on the slide in that one pic?

If so that is maybe a 6"...?

If that's as big as it looks like it might be that could go from 250-500.

I can't find a vise like this one around here and I've been looking for years! I know I would go at least 2 bills and maybe 3 after seeing in person if it was me!!

Looking again at the boards on the bench. You may be right about possibly 6" I'm thinking the wide ones could be 8" (7.5?) if so its close to 24" long? Hmm, probably 5, 6 should be longer...

But I don't think that is a dollar bill; if it is, it's an 8"!

No, and that's one of the reasons I couldn't go higher. Basing everything off a photo wasn't enough for me to pull the trigger. I stopped at 85. It got to 123 I think.
