i acquired this vise from a silent auction from work for $15.

it was stuck shut from i'm guessingfrom going thru the flood in 2011 that we had in northeaster pa and just all around abuse from being in a manufacturing setting

but it took a little fanciness to get it apart and when i did i found out that the main nut is stripped out.

few questions:

1. is the vise worth looking into and fixing

2. details about or the made and date of the vise

3. where can i get said parts

I think its worth getting back to working order if its not welded or cracked. Not sure what it is worth or the date it was built, but if you post this in the Vise section a few resident experts should chime in.

You may want to post your question on the Vises of GJ thread also. I'm sure that there are some guys who could set you up with a vise nut. I agree with Chilang, as far as it being worth fixing.

On the last picture, is there damage to the inner body, or is there so much crud around it to make look bad?

BTW: I like the way that you pulled the vise apart.

FXT: I posted my remarks in the Vise Repair 101 thread where you posted the same post as i think you started this thread with.

it's plenty old enough and looks plenty big enough to spend time fixing or trade it with one of us for a smaller working vise if you need something today and don't want to spend a lot of time on it.

if you were close to me i'd have something decent to trade you and i'm not even a huge fan of Parker or Union vises like some might be.

good luck
