Hi all,
I recently picked up a Parker vise on Facebook Marketplace. I pulled it apart to freshen it up.

I found the lead screw where it connects into the round "meatball" with the cross handle seems to be cracked and wiggles ever so slightly. How is this supposed to be put together? I had the impression it was machined from one solid piece, but as I look closer there appears to be a weld in the radius where it seems to be cracked.

My question is how to repair this if I do anything at all. I could have the heavy machine shop turn a groove in it and have them TIG weld it back up. or is it supposed to be slightly compliant for alignment when tightening the vise up.

Can anyone give me the 411 on this part or insight into how it was made?

Much Thanks,
RP
