Parking a KRL "Permanently"

New KRL722 in my garage...I'd like to park it permanently. Right now its in position where I like it, but the 2 swivel casters don't lock up the swivel action, so if I push/pull the box on that end, the box can move forward & back which I don't like. Anybody have a way to get the box super solid?

Options as I see em:
-Get the Caster Delete kit from SO for the box
-Get 2x Solid casters and replace the swivel end.
-Get Casters off of 7022 Series assuming they fit and also feature a Swivel Lock.
-Fab up my own Base so I could move the box with a pallet jack if the need ever arose.

One cheap and easy way would be to get 2 pieces of angle iron
Turn the casters so they are facing each other. Put the angle iron on either side of the wheels and mark place to drill holes.
Drill holes for bolts that will go through both pieces of angle iron and clamp the wheels.
This will keep them from rolling or turning. If you ever want to move it then remove angle iron

i say you just make a simple tube frame to lift the casters off the ground slightly, raise the box up with a jack and set it on the square tube frame, this way you dont have to worry about flat spots on wheel bearings from sitting too long with weight, or flat spots on wheels if they are the type of wheels that will get that. and its easily undoable.

Sounds to me like you just need to park the box better. What I do is get the box rolling in a straight line before I park the box - that way the swivel casters are trailing straight. If you try to swing the box into its spot, you'll never get the swivel casters going straight.

Know what you mean...I did pretty much exactly that to get it where I wanted..
The casters are straight as you mentioned, but I can push the box on that end towards & away from the wall, the wheel doesn't turn because its locked, but the casters swivel in place
It wouldn't go far...but I'm sure far enough to scratch the wall and/or box.

Wont take too long to do that...just gotta move in...not used to having such a nice/large box so I'm still OCDing about how exactly I'm gonna lay things out...That your 9R in your Avatar?

It'd look better if you had the left end up against something and had the swivel casters swung the other direction. That way you'd have access to the brakes.

It's a 9510R I ran a little when the farm demoed it pulling our 9 shank disc-ripper. Our 475HP MT855 Cat track machine outpulled it so we did't buy it. It was nice, but a ***** to move down the road set up with 850 metrics.

What I did with my Large Matco was to force the caster wheels so that they oppose each other. I kicked front side wheel until it was pointing rearward, and the rear wheel until it was facing forward, and then I locked the caster. This prevents the swivel function from moving, as it can't go anywhere without sliding. I'm on level ground, against a wall, but I don't have any motion in mine.

With a heavy KRL I can't imagine that it will easily slide on the wheels that are locked.

Another thing you could do it to drive a wooden wedge into the fixed direction wheels on the other side, effectively locking all 4 wheels from rolling.

I didn't win it...bought it at a smoking price. To make a long story short, the ol fine print of "Prices & Participation May Vary"..In my experience, most if not all the SO guys participate, but not all of them extend those deals "as intended" to the customer....
From what I gather, my guy had 2 of them from SFC 2012, Something along the lines of Buy an Epiq get one of these KRL's free...one got raffled off, the other was set aside for a rainy day....

Hmm...I like this idea...Lock em up and then use my pallet jack to get the box in place...
I'm gonna price out the fixed base for it next time I'm on the truck...for the heck of it...

here is the cheapest and easiest way:

find a piece of (preferably aluminum) welding rod, park your box, set the brakes. wrap the welding rod couple times around the wheel where it contacts the ground. clip the excess, release the brakes and you are done.

I had mine sit this way for 3 years.

I'm not sure if your box is against a wall. If so why not remove a drawer or two and lag bolt it to the wall. Works for me.

I have mine on 6x6 w/angle iron and welded pieces on the ends to keep swivels from turning out
