Parking Assist Help

I just bought a 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab that is just over 19' long. It fits in my garage fine, but it is tight. I have a firewood rack in front of it and if I give myself 2" of clearance between the garage door and the drop hitch it leaves me just enough room to walk in front of the truck to go in the house. All this means that I must park in the almost exact same spot everytime. Does anyone have any good paking assist ideas or products that will help me with my problem?

Yep, a tennis ball or thick rubber ball hung on a fairly thick cotton cord that hits the windshield just in the middle of the speedo or other gauge will put you in the same spot every time. Go slow and stop just as it kisses the glass. It will position the vehile in both directions. We once used a glove stuffed with something that didn't work as well because it spun in the breeze and was not as accurate. The kids loved it though--called it "the helping hand". Good luck, Rick

I was going to get a laser sight that the have for parking, but figured out it wasn't possible to get it to shine where I could see it on the front of the truck, and not have the garage door cover it, because I back the truck in.

I did the old tennis ball thing. I set it up so it hits the back window, since I have to back in to be able to get out. That makes it work better than the laser system that would have to be up front.

Somebody on here posted a setup they did with eye bolts and string attached to the door so the ball raised up to the ceiling when the door went down, I plan on doing that.

I used a plastic easter egg on a string. The string just happened to be from the light switch I added to my door opener. A hook in the ceiling will work just as well but finding the right position can be fun. Vertical adjustment works for the fine tuning if the windshield slopes.

I did some more research and found out that the lazer sight should work well since I already have the same name brand opener. I have used the tennis ball technic in the past, but I dont want a tennis ball hanging from the ceiling again. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks

Just keep in mind those only work if you pull in, not back in (at least for the most part).
