Part for a lathe???

Was hoping someone would know what this is for. I got this at a "last day all must go sale". I went to see if there were any scraps left. I got this and a 5gal bucket full of scraps for $3 so If it obsolete I won't feel so bad.

That is a bench grinder that is belt drive. May also be referred to as a grinding arbor.

X2, on the belt drive grinder, it has Babbitt bearings under those caps.

With the right motor, it should make a good buffer or wire wheel.

Marty: i like those deals where you grab it and ask what it's used for later. here's a belt grinder that isn't quite as cool as yours could be on a nice old cast iron stand that i'm sure you will find.
