Parts storage and dust. What do you do?

I purchased a shelving unit that I was thinking of using for storing parts in parts bins. Only thing is that everything gets covered in layers of dust, either from grinding or wood dust.
Should I not worry about it or should I build doors and keep it closed?
What do you do?

Get them in a drawer or behind a door.

There are LOTS of parts/nut/bolt/etc storage threads on this site.

Wood working dust goes everywhere.
Either build that into being a cabinet with doors, or install a plastic curtain on the front that you can move to the side to get at stuff or just don't worry about it and you can flow the dust out once in a while

Attach some hinges and put some double doors on that thing.

Get a cheap plastic dropcloth from the hardware store and drape it over the shelving unit.

That, plus doors on the cabinets, is what you will find in my shop.

That is why I have cabinets in my shop. My shop is a body shop so dust is always an issue, with cabinets I just blow the top off every now and again.

I started using plastic totes with lids on my shelves to keep stuff clean. Been looking into some cabinets, man those things aren't cheap for something decent

I like to keep everything in plastic totes, cabinets, or drawers. I try to do all of my woodworking outside, to keep the mess out there.

i dont worry about dust, it's just a garage.
i do most wood cutting in the basement, i keep a 16gal shop vac close by.

Most of my parts, etc. are in drawers but some are in open shelves. I am planning on smaller totes for these things. Wood dust is bad but I find metal dust from portable grinders is downright nasty.

I don't know what brand your bins are but akro mills and quantum to make clear kids for their bins.

Attach a cheap window curtain rod and a curtain you can slide to the side.
