I am wondering weather I can use a sump pump as pump for my parts washer. Parts washer's pump is shot. Will this work or will it ruin the pump?

HF has big disclaimers up that their pumps and tanks are for water based solvent only. Fire Hazard.

Need to find a used safety clean pump / tank. Usually all that is wrong is that a hose has rotted or a filter clogged.

I bought 2 on fleabay for 34$ ea about a month ago. Search for "solvent pumps" .There were about 4 different ones. The ones I got were a plug and play in my HF 20 gal units.

I bought a Little Giant waterfall pump for less then $40 and there have been no issues with Stoddard solvent. Why is the one Grainger sells $100+?

Northern had 2 available when I got mine and not alot of price difference, I got the "bigger" one; and I am glad I did.. Mine too is "Little giant" brand as was the burnt out one that came with my Safery Kleen tank...
which I bought from a private party, not rented so calling SK and expecting them to replace it was out of the question though when I needed a new light fixture I stopped by a shop with a SK truck sittin outside and the SK guy gave me one no charge, and no Qs asked... yeah it was used, but it still works fine several years later
you might see what they can do... dont call the distributor catch a route guy while he's out and about... he may be able to sell you a new one, reasonably

Sump pump will be waaaaay too much volume.
A small landscape faterfall pump will make more sense.

hello,
I just purchased a very well used parts washer from a man on craigslist. The hinge on the top of the lid is really rusted and opens roughly. I just made some adjustments to the filter. I've attached air water and gas hose to the outlet on the pump and ran it into a summit oil filter mount with a run of the mill oil filter. Then the outlet from the filter mount runs into the tank with air water and gas hose. The filter mount is mounted onto the top of the tank where the lid closes. I cleaned the entire housing of pump but when the pump is on and running it rumbles very loudly and barley puts out any water. Do I need to get a new pump or is there something I'm missing?
