Parts Washer Splash Guard Ideas

Whenever I use the parts washer it splashes all over the place after the solvent hits the bottom of the tank or part.
I figured I could come up with a solution and wanted to see if anyone else has done something similar or has some ideas

Ideally I would want something lightweight due to the lid wanting to sag, also the lid needs to be able fall in the case of a fire.

So far I'm thinking a rubber flap, I'd really like to use some sort of bellow or fanfold type material but I'm not sure where to acquire something like that that would survive the solvent.

Pic below shows the general idea using a sheet of rubber. It would be on the inside of the lid to have drips roll into the tank. NOT real happy about the rubber dropping down into the tank when closing the lid though.

Anyone do something similar?

I notice you have ball valves on your feed hoses. Have you tried just reducing the volume of solvent through the brush or line?

I spend a lot of time at solvent tanks between work and home and really haven't had any issues with solvent leaving the basin. I will have a little splash here or there when washing a taller part and up near the top so I have to tilt/angle the part so that IF it splashes it splashed to the back and hits the lid but nothing more. I also lose some solvent to "blow-off" and have to add some each year but minimal. I fabricated a side tray that I keep an absorbent pad on to set the parts on once cleaned, then use compressed air to blow them off. Not much leaves the basin other than that. Personally I would hate to have to work around any kind of rubber flap but that's just me.

I have adjusted the ball valves with not much luck. Mostly the issue comes from splatter bouncing off parts being washed.
I'm surprised no body else has this problem being mine gets everywhere!

That's a pretty shallow tank is why.

My parts washer is in a separate building from my main shop. It's kind of a PITA if I have a lot to do but the mess stays there. Yours is on wheels, push it outside.

If I where going to make shielding, rather than where you have rubber I'd use aluminum fastened to handles. Make it so the splashed solvent runs down the aluminum into a pan or two you have sitting on that top shelf. Although you'll be surprised how little solvent you reclaim.

Or attach pig mat to your shields and pitch it when it gets saturated.
