My wife and I socialize with a group of like minded folks and we get together at some ones house for all the major holidays. We have hosted a couple of summer time events on our deck without any problems. This year our turn came up for the Christmas pot luck dinner. My wife, ever the creative sole, decided our house could not accommodate the 40, or so people that usually attend. So she said "Now that your shop has heat and a loo we can do it out there. I was not enthusiastic but became somewhat cooperative when she mentioned "You have got to sleep sometime" while drawing her hand across her throat. Over the last couple of days everything small got pushed to the outside walls, the vice came off the work bench, and folding tables and chairs were borrowed and set inside. This morning my 32 Ford roadster and the rolling chassis for my 31 Model A coupe went out on the apron, the floor was swept, and the tables were placed. This is what it looked like just before the food was set out.

Lost count of the number of people who came through the food line over the course of the evening but it was a bunch. There are still some hard corps ladies out there playing cards.

Couple of the guys were interested in what I am doing out there and we talked a bit about small block Chevys and Buick Nailheads. Hoping this does not become a tradition. I'd rather work in my shop but just this once was OK by me.

40 or so people? I'd be hard pressed to come up with a list of 10 that I can stand for more than a few minutes.

I host three events a year for my local club at my hobby garage. Usually there are 30 to 40 people present. We work on cars, BS and have a pot luck lunch. Been doing it for the past 12 years. It is good for me because I have to clean up the shop at least three times a year and often get a couple of club members to stop by and help. Located near Wichita, KS we usually get several people from Kansas City and some from Oklahoma City, OK.

The events are always fun, but there is a big sigh of relief when it is over.

I'm sure you had a great time!

Haven't had a party in my garage, but found that tool karts make great portable food service carts when you put a tablecloth over them.

Haha, I burst out laughing at this one!

Looks like it was a great time out in your shop. I have yet to do it, but looking forward to it.

You've got a beautiful wife that doesn't hassle you about restoring old cars, let her do what she wants.

I'm NOT a believer in, "Happy Wife/Happy Life" cause I KNOW it's gotta be reciprocal.
I subscribe to, "Happy Spouse/Happy House". She's done her part, now you do yours. Congrats!

As much as I don't care to have people in and out of my garage, I'd be okay with it for one reason. It would keep the mess out of the house on family get togethers, especially with kids that make messes or spill something. . .. . I guess it's not always the kids either.

Social events at my house always wind up with some contingent of guests hanging out in my attached garage. At least for the dudes. Christmas Eve was no exception.

Highlight of the night was a 7 yr old boy who showed up pretty late (after 10pm for sure), had to park on the side street and walk past the 3 garage doors on the side street and the two in the driveway. Last time he was here it was only a two car attached. He loved it then too even if he did leave fingerprints all over my Road King.

But the highlight this year was before he even wanted to open any gifts, he wanted me to take him out and show him the garage. My car in my avatar is the furthest bay away from the house and from 30 feet he was running over to it and immediately recognized it as a Mustang. He then wanted to see under the hood and was asking how fast does it go, etc...

The kid was raised right obviously.

There were about 60 of us for Christmas Eve this year. (All family). Most of the guys spent it in the garage. Well done OP. looked like fun.

Looks like a great place for a good time! The socialization of the hobby is what keeps it enjoyable for me. Otherwise, the garage would just a place to pile all of my "junk". My wife and I host several events each year in The Hot Rod Grille Garage and always have a great time!

Hmmmm......I think she pulled one over on you there bib.....

Instead of her having to count the silverware after a party, you have to count the wrenches!

:lol_hitti

Seriously though, a great different way to have one for sure!
