Working on an old corner brace, getting it back to nice condition. It’s a MF 502 (i think) and based on the style it’s pre-war. It was nasty when i got it. The part I’m asking about is the gear cover.
.
When i got the covers off, first i found that they were secured with 4 different kinds of screws, so obviously they had been off previously. Then i discovered that one of the gears was secured with a nail rather than a roll pin, and apparently the nail had rubbed against the cover, and wore a hole in it. I want to patch it good enough to keep grease in, and dirt out.
