Patent date help.

For some reason I can't get this patent date to show up for me.

Oct. 21, 1924 (the 4 is nicked up so I guess its a 4)

Looks similar but it isn't a ratcheting driver.

If not he is very close, same time period, same place in NY, close on the last name.
Heelspur you sure that middle name is a "T" and not an "A" ?

The "T" is pretty clear unlike the first name. I thought I made out Alcot for the first name if its even a name at all. Its pretty worn and mushed up.

It has to be a 4. No other October 21 from 1920 to 1929 was a Tuesday. EDIT: DATAMP has a record of several patents on this date, but no Johnston, and nothing that resembles that tool or device.

That's a particularly difficult one to find when the guy patented it as "tool."

The guy redeemed himself by putting his name, city, and the patent issue date on the tool. Those made it easy to find

That only works on patents post-1900............you won't find it that way earlier.
