Pathetic the way someone did this new Blackhawk ratchet.

In addition to being used as a hammer,, the retaining ring was missing ant the works fell out. As new inside. No I didn't buy it from the pawn shop.

Unless, of course, there's some kind of emergency. That's the only time I can justify tool abuse like that.

Looks more like a roadside find

Didn't think of that but you could be right. My Wife gave me a Duralast Ratchet which she found in the road and it had marks on it similar to the ones on this ratchet.

Give us the story behind the ratchet in the OP, unless it is all just rampant speculation, which would be surprising, since it hardly ever occurs here at The GJ.

I once saw my boss use a Snap-On ratchet as a hammer. At our new location while we were putting in some equipment. I told him I could run out to my truck and grab a hammer, but he is too impatient. lol

No back story that I know of. I saw it in a nice looking Craftsman tool box in a pawn shop, new enough to be chinese, so I didn't pay much attention to it. The ratchet was in the top as pictured. As I said, I passed it by and wished it luck. Having said that, all it needs is a retaining ring to make a serviceable ratchet. The action is crisp and clean also tight and smooth. It hasn't seen much actual use.
