i have been looking for a pedestal fan and just cant locate one. i found two, but they had the same issue as the one i just picked up.
i got a floor model for 5 bucks. 3 speed. shakes horribly.
it was priced right, couldnt pass it up.

my only question is, what makes them wobble? this one will dance until it runs into something then keep going.

not sure if the blades are out of balance or a bearing issue in the motor when they spin up to speed.

it works great, and pretty much garbage they way it is. figured over the last umpteen years of these fans around someone might know a trick or two.

pic for reference, i cant get mine to load.

I don't anything about your fan. Fans can vibrate due out of balance weights or aerodynamic loading.

It would take too long to go into an explanation of critical speeds in rotating machinery; but, if possible, you could try operating the fan at a different rotational speed.

Correct, but most likely it's just an out of balance issue. Take the cover off and check to see if each blade is traveling the same path, is so then remove the fan from shaft and do a static balance by placing fan on a thin pivot such as a nail to see where the heavy point is.

If its a cheap fan, then the motor's rotor could be out of balance also

If it is a metal bladed fan check to make sure each blade is at the same angle (pitch) and in line with the other two. Each blade must grab the same amount of air and move it or you will experience wobble. Clean the fan blade as one blade may have more dirt on it causing unbalance. Also remove the fan blade and run the motor listening for bearing noise.

Sometimes you just have to tweak all the blades to get it to be quiet.

I've had fans like that as well, they all have a bit of vibration even the expensive ones. Easiest solution is to stick them on carpeting.

Likely an out of balance issue. Before you pull any blades off, just give them a good cleaning and try running it again. A common issue with fans is that they get dirt built up on the blades and throws them out of balance.

Another solution would be to put rubber feet on it to help absorb some of the unbalance forces.
