Hi all,

So i pulled up my old paver patio and built a screen porch with concrete. I have the pavers still and was looking to do a 18x18 pad off the one side of the porch.
Figured I have them, might as well use them. Looking to do one step down from the porch (used 7" step in mock up). I ran string lines this morning and realized my one corner is pretty high but I have plenty of land to feather out into.

Issue is around the HVAC that is on the original ground level.
The side of the fence was removed for the porch build and my thought was to use some of my old blocks to create a mini wall that the dirt (now pavers) would **** up against and then have the fence boards on that side start higher.(basically cut 1-2' off the bottom of that fence side we removed).

I am not sure what to do at the corner of the fence that butts up to the patio. I can't feather dirt - door would never open.
attached are some pics - if you look closely you can see the string line.

Here is a similar situation. My height is more but I can bring dirt up to the patio at the corner, not near the HVAC fence though. and I am not sure how much I like the exposed side of the pavers....

Thought about this idea - creating an "alcove" around the HVAC so the ground level in the door swing area stays where it is.
The red lines are where a small retaining wall would go and the green lines are where the dirt comes up to the back of that wall and feathers away into the yard. The cinderblock indicated by the yellow arrow happens to be pretty close in orientation to what I am thinking - but 1.5 -2 high (not cinderblock of course). Figure 3-4 feet from the fence. That is not really a place where people would walk so I not worried about people accidently stepping off and falling like further out in the yard.
Any other ideas?
