Got this set a while back for $60, out the door, and thought that was a pretty fair price for this set.
IDK why, but I’ve been wondering what they actually had in it.
Any of you code crackers care to take a shot at this one?
They still made $20-40 off of you... My guess is they gave a $20 loan, $40 was the value, so anything above that was gravy...
Just a wild assed guess, but most hock shops try to get a minimum of 4x what the ticket was... the minimum they needed was ZDZZA - 0400(1)... 40 bucks and it's on it's first money shot... Probably the next one will be ZDZZB, etc. with a probable new price of $84.99, then C will be $79.99...
I'm sure it varies but a pawn shop owner friend told me his normal buying rate is 10% of what he can sell it for. He's been in business over 30 yrs so I guess it's competitive with other shops.
Remember, a hock shop is there to keep a roof over their heads and make money, maybe even send the kids to college... thought it would be a fun business to be in, but the only way you get into the business is be born into it, or marry into it.

A friend of a friend was in the pawn business after he retired with a nice buyout pension. He did high end, not junk... I'm sure He did well at it financially, but it was a lot of headaches . When is landlord wanted to raise the rent "hefty" he said he wasn't willing to pay that , landlord thought he would call bluff, landlord lost. place sat vacant for at least 2 years .
