Found one of these in 24" awhile back. Unfortunately, just garage art to me; I have a full set of Ridgid ones.

Saw a 18" P&C one for sale cheap last weekend, I passed on it. I think all of them were made for the Proto gool group by the same manufacturer, the P&C was identical to the Proto one, and the information on the handle is just a different stamp.

Nice find. We don't see many Proto pipe wrenches up here.

I have a full set of Ridgid ones.

X2 - let's leave the Proto/P&C for the collectors and Ridgid for users. My set, inherited from my dad, is from 6" - 36". It takes a real man on a good day to work overhead with the 48" and 60" heavy duty.

Nice! I'd buy that in a heart beat and my old Ridgid would go to my son or son-in-law.

I worked in oilfield for 10 yrs. I have lots of plumbing type tools. Up to and including 36” steel pipe wrenches. Most of the chrome stuff was cheap enough “crescent” but they would corrode in the conditions mainly salt water. No matter how well you clean up you still get them rusty in some place. But I was only concerned about the function of the tools. For my personal tools at home I like Proto as much as any brand. Except Plomb. Just haven’t found enough of either to call a set. I will keep trying.

Late Plomb, and Proto dual marked pipe wrenches have a J.P.Danilson date code both on the dynamic jaw, and just under the fixed one. I have no idea how late that continued.

I'm surprised a pawn shop had anything for sale for $3.00. Every one I've ever been in grossly overpriced their tools.
