Ok, decided I'd give it a try ONE MORE TIME before I give up.

This makes like 7 times I've ever set foot into a pawn shop, and they've all been within the last 10 days or so.

Walked in and asked where the name brand hand tools are... She took me to the counter and I see these 3 Armstrong ratchets sitting there, $24.95 apiece. She asked If I wanted to take them home and I said not for $25 a piece plus tax.

She said "how about buy 2 get one half price sound?"

To which I replied "buy 2 at $20 each, and get 1 FREE sounds better."

I like my new ratchets!

The thing that blows me away about pawn shops is how little people are willing to sell their tools for at a pawn shop. If I offered those prices for tools on CL I'd get stoned.

I think that's what most people do with the money they get from selling tools at a pawn shop. :lol_hitti

I find that I find good deals in pawn shops the first time I go in, and then they think I am a regular cust. and the prices go up, I would think it should go the other way around....Richie

The 12-973 is a 36 tooth.
The 12-992 is a 60 tooth.
The 11-992 is a 88 tooth.

They are interchangeable with Matco kits from what I understand, which is awesome.

I'm happy with the deal I got... But good lord there were some people in there that had definitely seen better days... Or got their hands on some bad crystal meth.

I will not be a regular pawnshop scrounger, as I pretty much have the tools I need or want....
Which might be for the better based off the general crowd of pawn shop frequenters I have seen.

I'm not better than anyone, but I know some of those people aren't just down on their luck due to "current times".... Straight up freak show.

Can you get Hepatitis C from a door handle?

This^. Our pawn shops are high on name brands!

Yea I'm seeing tons of Snap-On and Matco here...

But as I mentioned in my previous pawn shop hunting thread, everyone wants MSRP or MORE for them- USED!

This same shop I found the ratchets in had a couple of odd Bonney wrenches mixed in with their India & China $1 bins... Date on the barcode sticker showed they've been sitting in that shop for almost a year.
