Pawn Shop Husky Ratchet

I had to go out of town yesterday for a job interview. So after the interview, I decided to hit a few pawn shops. I of course go straight for the bargain bin and what do I find, an old Husky Ratchet! This is by far the oldest ratchet that I have ever found, and it's in remarkable shape for it's age. I also bundled a seven piece Snap-on impact socket set in 3/4" drive (didn't need but couldn't pass it up) that needs a little cleaning into the deal.

I will post pics of the sockets tomorrow they are soaking in Evapo-Rust now. I think I will keep the ratchet, but I will probably sell the sockets, depending on how they clean up.

So just going by the date on the handle, is this ratchet from the 40s?

As promised, here are the pics of the Snap on impact sockets that I bought when I bought the ratchet. If I am reading the chart right, the three biggest sockets are from 1952 and the six smaller sockets are from 1951. The problem is they are 3/4 inch drive and I have no use for them, but as we all know we can't pass up a deal!

Thanks, but unfortunately I don't ever use, 3/4 inch drive so I will probably sell them on Evil Bay.

That's not a 3/4 drive set. Look at the 9/16 socket.

I will have to find a bigger ratchet as the biggest I have is 1/2 inch. Did they make 5/8 drive in the 50's and if so, what did they use that size for?

Probably 5/8 drive. I sold a set of standard sockets years ago that Snapmom corrected my auction to 5/8 from 3/4"
Hopefully, she will chime in.

Ok, now I am confused. I finally measured the socket and it is definitely 5/8, but when I checked the socket numbers on the Collecting Snap on website it shows that Snap on quit producing 5/8 drive sockets in the thirties and then shows them being produced again in 1975. My sockets are date marked 1951 and 1952, and the item numbers don't match either. The three biggest sockets are marked SP and the others are marked SPHD. Anybody ever came across these sockets before?

The sockets are listed in the 1950 catalog, I think on page 36. Heavy duty series 5/8 drive. Good score for the money, I would`ve bought them also.

Thanks for the info str8axle55, I will check it out. They were a good deal and I couldn't pass it up, but I don't have any other items that are 5/8, I thought they were 3/4 LOL. Does anybody use these anymore or are they collectable?
