Went to the pawn shop I normally find nothing at and grabbed these...

not actual picture (cant find digi cam cable), but is the exact same ratchet. Got it for 5$ No tellin how old it is. "Thorsen 77 mfg USA" Anyone know how much it could be worth? Hopefully more than I paid.

I also nabbed a mint Craftsman 10" Adjustable wrench for 5$. Works soooo smooth. Someone took great care of it. It has been greased.

I've got the 1/2" and 3/8" versions and love em. They are great ratchets and so smooth. I'm still lookin out for the 1/4" version, but can't find it anywhere. I think you got a good deal.

Fine ratchet, and if you like it, then it was DEFINITELY worth more than you paid. And until you decide to sell it...it won't really even matter what you paid. That's the way I look at it.

Nevertheless, if your ratchet looks really good and functions perfectly, then I would say you got a real bargain. Worth $10-20, depending on who wants it, and how badly.

Nice find!

My sister and BIL gave me a 1/2 Thorsen set as a graduation present. Used it for 45 plus years, non professionally. Easiet ratchet to use I've had. Direction changes with one quick flick of the thumb. Did break the pull handle and got a replacement. Over the years I got 3/8 and 1/4 drive ratchets from pawn shops. Since the 1/2 drive set had sentimental value I passed the Thorsen stuff on to my daughter and SIL. I decided i wanted a 1/2 drive ratchet anyway and got a P&C which if from the same company. Paid $10 for it so I guess that answers your question about value. I already had another 3/8 drive Thorsen tatchet, and last month I found another 1/4 drive. All the thorsen models are as compact as almost any other makes.

If I get another 1/4 drive ratchet I'll offer to the poster who wants one.

Never broke a Thorsen socket in all that time, just the pull handle.

They are very nice ratchets, but you must watch out for dirt getting inside (very easy because of the open design). I have been told that some came with an outer cover to protect the whole ratchet head; I have never come any.

I like it.
Gives me the same feeling I get when I look at an old Harley motorcycle. All the beautiful mechanical stuff is proudly displayed, no plastic covers hiding anything.

That looks like the Wright ratchet that the military is using in the middle east. I'l be getting some in the near future.
