Hey,
We do this on another board I am on , what it means is if you have unusable / needed garage related items you would post it with pictures and information about item. If someone has a need of or can use the item that person pays shipping and the owner just gives the item or maybe even trades the item. These items are NOT TO BE SOLD ON EBAY or CRAIGSLIST so there is some honor required IE shipping paid for before item is sent etc. Perhaps there is already a section here for this but I did not see it. A moderator may need to be involved to setup the rules etc. However, The Garagejournal WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN MEMBERS , MEMBERS POLICE YOURSELVES WE ARE ADULTS ..WELL MOSTLY ;). Anyhow what do you all think ? I will start it off Moderators, if this is against the rules of the board or improper area to post delete or move as needed.

What I have are 3 each 14.4 volt tools drill DC930 , gooseneck flash light DW918, swivel head light DW906 and single charger DW916 the batteries are dead and I have replaced the items with 20v units so they are useless to me as I am not going backward. New batteries are available online.

Hi, I am interested in the dewalt cordless drill. Could you take a picture of the bottom, I got a newer Black and Decker 14.4v drill that has a good battery, that I could use with that, thanks.

Good on you OP.

I too have DW 14.4 tools, but I'll pass and let another member go for these.

I think I'll be switching over to the Wauk here shortly.

When it comes to duplicate/out grown tools I usually donate them to the local highschool.

I tried that the two local vocational schools turned their noses up they use 20 volts , I said how about some of the senior kids they don't have money. Still got a no so oh well most of my friends want 20 v stuff even the ones who don't have a batt drill. So I figured folks here might be .

Most schools are not allowed to use any donated items, it all goes into a surplus area and gets sold as scrap to bulk buyers.

Well

Here you go my scale says 7.5 lbs I would round it to 8 just to not be surprised I don't often calibrate my bathroom scale :} It is boxed and sealed so nothing more will be added but a label and with luck the post person keeps their thumb off the scale.:}

Thanks, could you please give me the dimensions of the box so I can calculate the shipping more accurately?

Usually in other forums that have done this, the taker of the items is the person that creates the next item to be given away. Don't know if that clarifies anything.

What about those boxes from the U.S. Postal Mule Office?

They say if it ships it fits!!!

One could ascertain the cost that way.

Good idea!!! , I just had that box laying around and was not thinking.

Anyone reading and interested in doing this figure out any rules that are agreeable and not complicated and perhaps we can get a moderator to make it a sticky.

$8.25 is going to be better than any of the flat rate boxes. Go ahead and go through the USPS procedure to buy the label. However, instead of printing the label, save it as a pdf. Then email it to the giver and he can print it, tape it on the box and drop it at the post office.

Cool so he can pay and just send me the label so no messing around with pay pal etc? If so that is even easier then what we do on my other board. It usually involves the recipient sends gift through pay pal and sender gets address and such etc .

Yes, that should be the easiest way to do it. Once it is a pdf, anyone can print it. I've used that way a few times in the past for having my parents ship things to me or eBay returns. Just make sure all the addresses and the ship from zip code is right and you are good to go.

I'm on vacation at the moment, but when I get back home I'll throw some stuff up on this thread to pass it along. I also do this on other forums, especially motorcycle forums. Every time I trade bikes I find a ton of spare parts that I forgot about to give away!
