My go to for really stuck **** is heat followed by PB. If you get it hot, pull the heat off it, and start quenching it with PB, it will come right out. When you first quench it, the PB will just cook right off, but there is a specific point when the part is still hot, but cool enough not to burn the PB off, and you can actually see the PB wick into the threads. Hit it a couple more times with the PB until it stops wicking into the threads and you are done. That is when it is time to loosen the bolt.

Try wax, it has a higher flash point. I use beeswax candle stubs left over from my wife's church. I swear they are blessed they work so well!

I have never tried wax (obviously the fastener has to be pretty hot) but I have seen several videos where it has worked well. If the part cools too much before the fastener is off, you will have to repeat.

Still can't really wrap my head around that AvE test vid where WD40 was best and PBBlaster by far the worst of the bunch. I'd have just as well pissed on a rusty fastener than hit it with WD40 and think it would help.

Now that I think of it, AvE ought to do a round two and add some urine to the test field.

That wax trick doesn't work when I tried it on the exhaust downpipe nuts.... Heated it to hot, let it cool a bit, apply wax, it just burned right off vaporized... and leave a trail of smoke...

Works better on studs than nuts when you aren't heating the stud directly. It actually doesn't work as well as spraying something like PB on the hot fastener but I try to use wax to save my lungs.

Also common for me is a product called Screwloose (CRC), which I never see mentioned here, and Tri-flo, which is rarely mentioned. I like the screwloose because it specifically mentions being safe for plastics and rubber, and is also pretty odorless, and the tri-flo has Teflon in it so I usually use it as a lubricant.

Love Ave's videos!

I wish there was a WD40 "smart straw" for PB Blaster. Each time I try to use a straw on a can of PB it goes shooting off due to the...um penetrating lubrication.

In my experiance, it doesnt really seem to make a lot of difference as long as something gets sprayed. Pb blaster, knocker loose, liquid wrench and similar all work decent enough. I dont use WD40 either, no particular reason. PB does seem better then most though.

The ones I like best CRC freeze off (smells like Kroil), 1st Ayd penetrating teflon gel lube , CRC power lube, All for different uses, no one spray oil is perfect.

Sometimes nothing works better then a torch or mini ductor.

Kroil is my gold reserve. Everything else gets WD, LW or PBB.

Same here. I broke out the Kroil this week for a battery holddown and it did the job. I wouldn't have tried anything else on something like that. I also rarely use it because it's a little pricey. Usually it's PB Blaster. I can't stand the smell of Liquid Wrench.

For me PB.is good,.but stinky. At work for the past 3 months I've been using GIBBS.for everything and it has proven to.be superior to PB, kroil, and Wd.40 penetrant. My boss is a 70 year old lifelong ******** gearhead (nothing impresses him usually ) and he is a.GIBBS.convert after having tried it.

I like PB Blaster fine for its intended purpose, but boy does that smell linger. I once used it to clean roofing tar off my hands when I couldn't find the wd40. Big mistake.
I recently tried the PB spray white lithium grease on some pivots and hinges on my truck. Worked great..

I always tried to support PB Blaster since they are a local company, but Kroil blows them out of the water. I do like many of their other products though.

I use the PB blaster brand silicone spray on rubber parts. It works well enough and is cheap.

Has anyone ever used GM heat riser lubricant? Is it some rebadged stuff?I've had good luck getting rusted stuff off.

MSDS sheet says its made by Valspar (the paint company). A bit odd. Appears to be mostly water, oils, and naphtha. I assume the water acts as a carrier/dispersant.

STOP THE PRESSES (does anyone say that any more ?)

AvE just posted a NEW VIDEO on penetrating oils !

Capture.JPG

The bottom line, in all of his admittedly less than perfect tests, there is NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between in all of his test !

Stick with what you got or buy what is cheapest !

LOL I saw that one too, I think he is stalking this forum or something lots of comments he hinted is the same ones from some one here..... I wonder if it is the OP.

One of the "old timer tricks" I heard about really helps any of the these products out is tapping on the fastener 50 or so times with a hammer, screwdriver, socket, etc after spraying. Only takes a minute to do it. Sounds strange but the vibration helps the spray get into where it needs to so it can do the job. Since I started doing this working on old VW's I've found rusty corroded fasteners tend to come out a lot easier. Only have to pull out the "fire wrench" infrequently now.

As far as sprays go I use PBB mostly, but think I'll try the Liquid Wrench or WD that I have sitting on my shelf next time I need to bust something loose just to see how it goes.
