Check out the ball hex chrome finish set on clearance, the Black Friday discount also worked on top of the clearance price ($45), making it about half price compared to retail.

https://toollady.com/store/212LH-10-Set-Orange-p200654363

They also have P0 & P1 phillips precision drivers for $4.49 ea ($3.30 w/disc).

Well, the Snap-On are made by Bondhus and identical to the ones in your pic below.

I have the Bondhus gold hard chrome finish and like them a lot but PB Swiss has legendary status with there ball hex's, a lot of pro's use them hard everyday report barely any signs of wear after years of use so I think its worth trying them out since I use them daily more than most of my other tools. Also the the bright colors are worth more money alone to speed up finding the one you need and when cleaning up, it should be much easier finding them on the bench among all the parts, metal stock and others tools. But yeah, full retail price is very hard to swallow.

For sure a way better value than those Snap-On non hard chrome finish for $32 that you can buy for $8, just get the harder gold version for $13 or rainbow for $16

as much as i'd like to try pb hex keys, i already basically have a lifetime supply.

i've got wera hex-plus and wiha magicring (the ones that come in that magical ErgoStar turn-select holder).

i think the wera hex-plus is a compelling design and is my first choice. but if i needed a spare set for an infrequently used tool bag or something, i'd just get bondhus. they seem almost as good, and the price is hard to beat.

I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure those Snap On’s are made by Eklind not Bondhus.

You might be correct that Eklind makes keys for them but that Snap-On hex set in your pic you posted above is for sure a Bondhus hex set holder and not Eklind?

Eklind is a really good usa compnay but I found I prefer using the Bondhus hard chrome finish set over my Eklind's (but slicing hairs as they're both really good).

I just don't think they can touch the metal and hardening specs of PB Swiss; we shall see.

I'm Hoping my new PB Swiss set will put an end for me searching or buying more hex sets, Also have a Wiha chrome SAE hex set coming as well to test out.

order placed.

i almost got the orange hex key set, but i didn't.
i like the rainbow colors more, and i figure if i ever want to get some pb swiss keys, i'm better off paying an extra $20 or so to get the color i like. it's a luxury good.

i got the insider 3 i think it's called? the twister with bit storage.

i got a couple bits for it to change the loadout. this is what i want in the 10-bit storage:

Slotted 3,4
PH 1,2,3
PZ 2
T 10,15,20,25
(added PH 1,3 and removed Hex 3,4)

and then i also got some power bits (their E6 series) to try out and replace some worn bits on my electric driver:

lmk now you like them, especially the pb swiss. have you tried wera hex-plus?

my impression of the wiha is that it's nothing special. mine are hardly used, and the chrome is already coming off. could be defective though. i'm considering trying to warranty it.

i have the MagicRing ones, and i only use them occasionally for that feature (when i want fastener retention).

tbh my favorite part of the wiha keys is that ErgoStar case they come in. kinda cool even if it is a gimmick.

I have bad news - I am finding the backdrag on the pb Swiss ratcheting screwdriver way too high

Bummer, I'm finding issues like this to be the case from other good manufacturers as well. I just received ratchet drivers from Vessel and Bahco and both had bad slop and mechanism play but the back drag was really good with the Vessel, Bahco acceptable but not as good.

Of course the price for PB is significantly higher than the ones mentioned.

I would speak to PB Swiss USA directly and ask them about it. You're certainly paying enough for that right.

Have to say I'm loving my hex bits from PB Swiss. Felo is second

i also think the backdrag could be better, but mine's not terrible.
i'd say it has more than my koken zeal ratchets and less than my nepros ratchets (spinning the anvil with fingers).

does yours also have some side-to-side slop when the direction selector is in the neutral position?

the PB 6510.R-30 is pretty nice.

it's the Insider Pro Ratchet which is i think AKA "Insider 3"

it feels solid. i like the ratchet, the grip, and the overall ergonomics. nothing feels cheap about it. i also like the aesthetics. :)

i have two complaints however.

when you have the ratchet direction selector in the middle position (non-ratcheting), there is some substantial slop. it's actually annoying when you're trying to use it as a normal, non-ratcheting screwdriver. not a deal breaker, but it's worth mentioning.

my second complaint concerns its 10-bit magazine. i think it is actually a nice design overall. opening and closing it feels nice. removing and inserting bits also feels pretty good. there's an almost magnetic feel as a bit slides in and the plastic retention clip grabs it. however, the bit in the lower left is hard to access! see how it has less clearance around it? that sidewall on the left is right on it. i put an infrequently used bit there (PZ2) as a workaround. i have small fingers, so i think someone with sausage fingers would have even more trouble.

I have the long stem version and I just went out to the garage and checked the side to side slop. There is some, but I never noticed it before.

I have a hard time sliding the bit magazine back - it's super tight. I need to carry a flat blade around to pry it with...

I sent them an Email about both problems. Maybe their manf. tolerances aren't so great?

I used my old Snappy with the pb Swiss Phillips bit to get things done the other day. I dislike the "pile o' bits" in the handle, and the cap unscrewing itself when I use it.

Right now, I think the Vessel is overall the best ratcheting screwdriver.

that *****. my magazine snaps out easily (but not so easily that it would happen unintentionally). i agree, sounds like there are manufacturing inconsistencies.
