I bought a set of PB Swiss screwdrivers as a result of this thread. Got them yesterday - they feel very nice, I think I will like them. Thanks

Both my phone and computer are W7 based. And it's taking some toll. Have some more pics of mentioned vendor's PB... Also, have pretty number of my own PB thingies. New. Also, try to post it later. You all know sort of oversensible vendor, that has reasons for this and that not to give permission to take a pic. Reasonable suspicion. On this sole pic you can't clearly see all the imperfections (those are imperfections because they are high end tools - less space for toleration) but trust me, they are lousy machined tools and feel cheap.

These are my favorites...

I am considering buying a similar set (Screwdrivers with a handle and changeable blades) as well since it take waaaay less space, so I have a couple of questions I hope you can/will answer.

1. Do you feel they are as good as normal screwdrivers?
2. Do you ever feel problems with "locking" the blades in?
3. Do you feel like the blades will somehow (with tear) destroy the handle over time?
4. Do the blades fall off sometimes like people describe it does in the PB225 (in other threads)
5. If you did not buy the set with changeable blades and was going to buy screwdrivers today, would be buying the set with changeable blades over a normal screw driver?

1) Quality wise, yes, as good as the regular PB Swiss. Functionality wise, no, regular drivers will always be better. These are a compromise to save space, but they are a good one.

2) No, the blades click home very positively. There is a metal ball in the top of the handle that engages in the detent in the blade. Much like a socket spanner. Of 3 handles I have, one was a little sloppy, other two are great.

3) No way. The handles (if you get the classic handle) are a very solid CAB.

4) No. The blades are quite a tight fit, and not heavy enough to drop out. I can see it might be a problem with the bigger 225 series, but I haven't found that to be a problem myself.

5) No, I would buy the regular drivers first. I would only get the interchangeable blades for mobile use (which is what I use them for) or maybe to keep at home if my shop was somewhere else!

Thank you for the answer Dave445. I do have two additional questions related to the previous I hope you can and will answer.

1. "Functionality wise, no, regular drivers will always be better" why do you not think it will functionality wise be as good as regular screwdrivers?

5. I am not working with tools and I am primarily going to use the tools at home (closets, cabinets, coat rack, sofa, bed etc.) and to fix my bike (from time to time).
I do not really have any screwdrivers right now (have two PB Swiss classic CAB handles that I got from my dad).
I am not going to buy regular screwdrivers and a screwdriver set with changeable blades.
So would you think/recommend it being worth buying the set with changeable blades over the regular screwdrivers compared to the space you save?

For simple house stuff, I'd recommend a 5-in-1 or 6-in-1 screwdriver. Something like this
https://www.tekton.com/drivers-and-bits/6-in-1-drivers
I don't recommend the 10-in-1 or 11-in-1 because the bits tend to fall out of those. The 5-in-1 and 6-in-1 usually don't have that problem. I linked that one as an example but similar drivers are available from many different brands. I'm located in the USA but there will likely be similar drivers available in Europe.

In Europe there are lots of deals available to you. Check for deals on PB Swiss from sellers on Ebay.de. Also look at the Wera VSM drivers (discontinued Swiss style drivers) on Ebay.de. https://www.ebay.com/itm/302455005892
I've ordered from Europe and had a mail forwarder send the orders to me in the USA. It will be even cheaper for you.

I have the some of the PB Swiss fixed drivers. Haven't tried their exchangeable blade drivers. If it's just for around the house, there's not really a need to worry about portability so I'd just get the fixed drivers. If you wanted something portable, the exchangeable blades would save you space.
